Homophobia means more than just the word-for-word translated fear of homosexuals/homosexuality. It describes also a questioning and devaluation of everything, that’s not a heterosexual way of living. For the affected this often can mean in practice harassment, discrimination and violence. Homophobia is a universal problem and sometimes appears loudly in political speeches – and sometimes silently in direct circle of friends.
